This residency is exclusively for resident citizens from the Arts Collaboratory countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. It welcomes proposals from diverse cultural agents, artists, writers, researchers, curators, and others interested in creative projects, research, and collaboration within the context of the four AC organizations in Colombia (Lugar a Dudas in Cali, Más Arte Más Acción in el Chocó, Casa Tres Patios and Platohedro in Medellín). Applications for the residency can include stays in a maximum of 2 of the organizations above.

NextGen 4.0 is calling all DC, MD, VA aspiring artists.

VisArts welcomes artists ages 17 – 27 in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to submit their application for NextGen 4.0, our fourth juried exhibition in our Kaplan Gallery from July 21 – August 20, 2017. NextGen 4.0 is an opportunity for aspiring artists with little to no experience exhibiting their work in a professional gallery.

VisArts is a non-profit organization whose mission is to transform individuals and communities through the visual arts. VisArts provides children, teens and adults with opportunities to express their creativity and enhance their awareness of the arts.

After reviewing all works, selected artists will be notified by June 9.

Please keep in mind that submission does not guarantee acceptance. Applicants should have little or no experience exhibiting in a professional gallery. Previous NextGen participants are ineligible. Previous NextGen applicants who were not selected may re-apply for this year’s exhibition.

Montpelier Arts Center is holding a competition for exhibitions that will be held in the Library Gallery September 2017 – August 2018. To be eligible, artists must be 18 years & older and reside in Maryland. Previous winners from 2011 to the present are ineligible. The juror may elect to exhibit artists who apply for solo shows or artists who apply as groups. An honorarium of $300 will be presented for each exhibition to the artist(s) exhibiting (i.e. groups would share the $300 honorarium.) The Montpelier Arts Center staff will handle all promotion and installation, as well as the reception. Please note, the Arts Center retains a 25% commission on sales of works sold during the competition.

There is no entry fee for this competition.

Application Requirements: All entries must be submitted online. Artist/Artist Group statement Current résumé of all artists to exhibit. A proposal of no more than 500 words (click here to see a floor plan of the Library Gallery). Preferred month for your show, and include second and third choices. A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 digital images that best exemplify your portfolio/proposal. Images must be in JPEG format at a minimum 300 dpi.

MFA (Maryland Federation of Art) invites artists residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter its 5th biennial found objects competition. The Eye of the Beholder is held to showcase the works of fine art constructed of one or more found objects. Any 2 or 3-D work following exhibition guidelines will be considered. The selected works will be exhibited at MFA’s Circle Gallery from June 16 to July 15, 2017. Exhibition chair is Angela Petruncio. 

Awards: Cash awards total $1000. Award contributors and recipients will be listed in the exhibition catalog.

Deadline: May 2, 2017

Fees: Entry fees are $35 (MFA members, $20) for one or two entries and $5 each for up to four additional entries. Entry fees are non-refundable.
