JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a creative, engaging, resourceful, and organized Site Supervisor to lead the day-to-day management of program staff and logistics for the Park Heights program site which includes four active mural project sites, a circuit of professional development courses, field trips, and community events, and artwork tours.

Part-time, Seasonal. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment and hours are contingent on receipt of grant funds.

June 18 to August 3

37.5 hours per week

7:30am-4:00pm

Five days a week, Monday through Friday

Hourly rate, $20/hour

About Art @ Work Art @ Work is a five-week mural artist apprenticeship program for Baltimore City youth enrolled in the city’s YouthWorks program. 60 young people ages 14-21 will be hired to work under lead teaching artists to create eight highly visible murals and mosaics throughout their neighborhood.

The goal of Art @ Work is to introduce youth to career opportunities in the arts, offer gainful employment in a positive learning environment and to provide youth with the tools to express themselves through the arts, all while beautifying their community.

ART@WORK is seeking a creative, engaging, resourceful, and organized Procurement Coordinator to assist the program directors with supply procurement and distribution and transportation coordination for six active mural project sites, professional development courses, field trips, and community events in two Baltimore City neighborhoods.

Part-time, Seasonal. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment and hours are contingent on receipt of grant funds.

East Children’s Area Interior Wall

Project budget up to $10,000

Overview:

In an effort to brighten and beautify Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Children’s Area at the Orleans Street Branch, Baltimore-based artists and designers are invited to submit a proposal.

Goals:

  1. Create a welcoming, vibrant space for children and families
  2. Brighten and beautify children’s area
  3. Highlight area artist/artist team

Specifications:

Mural location is the East Children’s Area wall, which measures 25ft wide and 16ft tall with vertical facing recessed lighting.

No specific subject matter is required and all complete proposals will be reviewed, however, submissions should reflect something appealing to the area, library and its customers. The final project may be a painted mural, printed or other media that appropriately fills the space. The library is open to a variety of materials. This submission should include every aspect of the design and install process. To learn more about the library, its patrons and those in the community, please attend the info session on: May 10, 2018 at 6pm. Artists may also submit questions to smccann@prattlibrary.org, questions should be submitted by May 10th for answer at the info session.

● Work to commence July/August 2018

When submissions are received on May 31st, jurors from the arts community and library staff shall decide on either one artist or artist groups for awarding of the project (depending upon the submission received). The jurors will include members of Baltimore’s artist community and Orleans Street Library staff.

Community Art Grants support Baltimore City artists and neighborhoods who work together to enliven underutilized public spaces through high-impact, community-driven public art projects.

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Public art projects – large in scale or in multiples including 2D visual art such as murals, and 3D visual art such as sculptures.
  • Performance art projects such as music, dance, theatre and parades
  • New media art forms including projection mapping, lighting, and soundscapes
  • Temporary public art projects sited on vacant lots within the Baltimore City limits
  • All projects must be free and open to the public and exist in outdoor, publicly accessible space.

Teaching Artist and Curator in Residence Request for Proposals

Residency Description

Through a dynamic partnership with the Chris White Community Development Corporation, a teaching artist/curator will engage with the Delaware Art Museum and Chris White Gallery for a one-year residency from September through August. This unique program affords a teaching artist/curator an opportunity to gain on-site experience working within the various communities the Delaware Art Museum and Chris White Gallery serve. Valuable skills in setting curricula, developing partnerships, engaging with artists, and exhibition planning and execution will be supported and gained through an extensive mentorship program with Chris White Gallery Committee Members and staff in the Delaware Art Museum’s Curatorial and Learning & Engagement departments.
