In 2013 and 2014, EUNIC Washington will partner with Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) for an ambitious 18 month project highlighting the positive role of culture in urban development. The BOPA , is the Arts Council for the City of Baltimore, addressing the needs of the arts community through arts and cultural activities and the development of grant programs. The Office also produces festivals, special events and promotions for the City.

Two opportunities are available to participate in the ongoing “Transit: Creative Placemaking in Baltimore” project:

ArtPlace America Grant

Baltimore City’s three Arts & Entertainment Districts have received a $200,000 grant from ArtPlace America. The grant funds Transit, a project which brings together European and Baltimore artists, arts organizations, city planners and transportation officials to strategically transform transit environments within the Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District, the Highlandtown Arts & Entertainment District and the Station North Arts & Entertainment District. The project was chosen from more than 1,200 applications as an exceptional example of creative placemaking.

Transit places artists and art at the center of city planning, execution and activity to transform undervalued spaces into places where communities gather and thrive. Baltimore is rich with artists and arts organizations, many located within the unique environment and personality of each Arts & Entertainment District. Transit leverages these assets by engaging the creative communities already present to elevate the visibility and capitalize on their commitment to the distinctiveness of each district.

Free Fall Baltimore Returns!

The eighth annual Free Fall Baltimore returns on October 1 through October 31, 2013!

During the city-wide arts celebration, Baltimore City arts organizations present hundreds of FREE arts activities including dance, music and theater performances, art exhibitions, free admission to museums, walking tours, festivals and workshops.

The Grant Application is for organizations with operating budgets under $300,000 that wish to apply for a Free Fall Baltimore grant.  2013 Grant Application  Due: Friday, June 28
