If you have been a part of our programming during the past 35 years of Baltimore Clayworks bringing clay to the community, then you are eligible for this exhibition. Gen-Y Exhibit

VisArts has an exciting opportunity for artists ages 17 – 27 in the DC, Maryland, Virginia, area to submit their application for review for our second Gen-Y exhibit in our Kaplan Gallery from June 23 – August 24 2015.

Gen-Y is an opportunity for young emerging artists to showcase their work in a professional art gallery. Work will be juried into the show by Peter Dubeau, Associate Dean for Continuing Studies at Maryland Institute of College Art (MICA), and Molly Nuzzo, Assistant Professor of Art at Montgomery College.

Online applications are due by May 31, 2015 11:00 pm at visartscenter.org/call-for-entries.

Please keep in mind that submission does not guarantee acceptance. Applicants should have never shown in a professional gallery previously. Previous Gen-Y applicants are welcome to apply.

The link for interested professionals to serve on the Public Art Commission is now available on the BOPA website. You can access the application directly here.

Members of the Public Art Commission serve as advisors and determine whether and to what extent artwork is appropriate for a particular construction project; oversee selection of artists and artwork for a particular project, determine submission requirements for public art proposals or qualifications, and review and determine allocation of eligible funds for the creation of artwork; the maintenance of existing artwork; and the performance of the Commission’s other functions and duties (as described in the City of Baltimore Public Art Guidelines). Commission members are generally expected to serve a 4 year term. Occasionally there is a need to find replacement candidates in the midst of a term. The intent of this application process is to identify candidates interested in joining the commission to serve for the remainder of the current term which runs through December 2016.

The Commission consists of 9 members: 8 are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council and 1 is appointed by the President of City Council. By Ordinance, the commission is to be composed of the following:

• 1 Must be a professional visual artist; OPENING

•1 Must be a curator or art historian from an established Baltimore Arts or Educational institution;

• 1 Must be a licensed architect in the State of Maryland;

• 1 Must be a licensed engineer in the State of Maryland;

• 4 Must be persons chosen from related disciplines, such as landscape architects, design professionals, urban planners, conservators, art educators, art administrators and citizens interested in civic improvement. OPENING

Inlight Richmond 2015

1708 Gallery, a non-profit based in Richmond, VA, invites national and international artists working in all media and disciplines (including performance) to submit proposals for InLight Richmond 2015, 1708 Gallery’s 8th annual one-night, public exhibition of light-based art and performance.

Proposals for InLight Richmond 2015 should involve, be inspired by, investigate, or interpret themes of light, from light as medium to light as concept. (Existing work, as well as proposals for new projects, will be considered.) 1708 Gallery also encourages artists to propose projects that respond directly to the site.

InLight Richmond 2015 will take place on the grounds of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts including the E. Claiborne and Lora Robins Sculpture Garden. Potential sites for installations and performances include pathways, walls, sidewalks, green spaces, trees, benches, building facades, and more. You may propose a specific site for both pre-existing and site-r esponsive works. Please indicate if your work is site-specific on your entry form. 1708 Gallery reserves the right to make final assignments.

With a successful 2014 behind us, Maryland’s premier theatre and performing arts festival is roaring back with a gusto for 2015. Below, please find information on this year’s festival, artist applications, and the steps needed to apply to be one of the performing groups presenting this year at the Charm City Fringe Fest. Follow the simple steps below to apply!

Performing – Performing at Fringe-managed venues or bringing your own venue (BYOV) is a fantastic experience for seasoned and emerging performers.

Selection Process – Your application will be evaluated by a team of your peers looking at specific criteria.

Applications are accepted beginning April 1st and must be submitted by June 28th.

Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment, Inc. is now accepting entries for its new outdoor film series reel B.A.D. film nights in Downtown Baltimore’s Bromo Arts District. On the third Tuesday of each month from June – September 2015, we will showcase and celebrate Baltimore-based art and filmmaking alongside feature film favorites, and brews & snacks from local vendors.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

This series was conceived as a platform to celebrate the city, its people, and its stories. We want to keep the critical conversation about social justice in Baltimore going and we strongly encourage individuals at all skill levels creating work around these issues to submit. Please note that content is not limited to these issues and we do hope to receive a range of material.

Baltimore-based artists & filmmakers are invited to submit time-based media (10 minutes or less) including film, video, installations and projections.
