School 33 Art Center is now accepting submissions from artists for our 2016 juried group exhibitions. Applications are to be received no later than Monday, February 1, 2016, at 11:59 am.

This call for entry is open to visual artists working in any medium. Through this open call, School 33 aims to present new work by emerging and established artists from the United States and abroad.

Our jurors, Jose’ Ruiz and Cynthia Connolly, will select artists based upon individual artistic merit and curatorial vision.

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, Inc. (BOPA) is pleased to present the Fred Lazarus IV Artscape Prize.  This prize will award $1,000 to a Baltimore City student artist. The award recipient will also receive a stipend to produce a solo exhibition, with mentorship from BOPA staff.

Indigo Magic is an exhibition that uses indigo as a lens to witness the myriad of ways in which indigenous African content and traditions show up in African American contemporary art forms. Indigo is more than a hue. Its magical essence is drawn from its history and its alchemy. Indigo is evident in the documentation of the Pharaohs in ancient Egypt, the royal courts in Nigeria, and the Tuareg nomads of Northern Senegal. It has been used as medicine, artist paint, and cosmetic embellishments. It is in the music, the melodies, and the mood. In this case indigo is the muse of the artist directed by its connection to the spirit of Africa.

The City of Roanoke and Roanoke Arts Commission  seek artist’s or artist teams’ qualifications to design, fabricate and install a mural or other suitable art under the I 581 bridge located at Tazewell Ave. at Second Street in downtown Roanoke.  This request is strictly for qualifications only.  The art work shall serve as a gateway to and reflect the history and spirit of the Southeast and Belmont Neighborhoods. This project is open to all artists and artist teams, age 18 and over, who are residents of the United States.
