Contemporary Director Deana Haggag said it best with her facebook post, “big high five GBCA!”. Her comment came in reference to the news that the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, with start up funding from the Robert W. Deutsch Foudnation was opening up a new artist project grant program. These grants are going to be a great stepping stone for artists to take on significant projects in the public realm and community level and we cannot wait to see the impact they will have across Baltimore. The Wind-Up Space will be hosting an art opening this Wednesday, September 11th from 6-9 pm. Black and white drawings by David Fair and collages by Matt Bovie will be on view for one month.

Highlandtown’s 3rd annual All Ages Art Cart Derby & Art by The Pint is an all ages gravity-powered art cart race and bilingual community arts street festival!
What’s an art cart? An art cart is a homemade cart powered by gravity (no motors or pedals) and designed as a sculpture. Art carts are made using wood, wheels, wire, papier mache, cardboard and your imagination! Previous art carts include a dinosaur, train garden, marble steps, battleship and rocket ship!

BOPA and the Baltimore City Department of Transportation are pleased to announce a public art opportunity that hopes to brighten and enhance the pedestrian and community experience along York Road.
Artists are invited to design and create original street signs that will be placed along York Road between 43rd and Glenwood Ave. Multiple artists will be selected to participate in the project and can choose from creating an image directly onto a blank steel sign or submitting a design to be professionally printed.
So what do you think is missing from the existing cannon of street sign visual culture? What would you add to the landscape given the opportunity?

Donald Edwards / Man Cave + T.R. Kaltreider / Observations from the In-Between
Jordan Faye Contemporary is delighted to present two concurrent solo exhibitions to start our fall season. Man Cave, in our center gallery, presents sculptural work from Donald Edwards using found objects. Observations from the In-Between, in our west gallery, is an exhibition of paintings on paper and salvaged wood from T. R. Kaltreider. Both exhibitions run from September 7 – October 19 / 2013. The Opening Reception for these exhibitions is on Saturday September 7, 6:30 – 9:30pm. There will also be an Artist Talk on Sunday September 29 / 1:00 – 3:00pm.
