Andrea Pollan is a curator, gallerist, art consultant, writer and appraiser based in Washington, DC. She has organized over 200 exhibitions of contemporary art both regionally and nationally and has written numerous catalogs and exhibition brochures. She has managed a large corporate and several private collections.
In 2004, after serving as Exhibitions Director at McLean Project for the Arts for
10 years, she opened an acclaimed curatorial space called Curator’s Office in
Washington, DC. It serves both as a curatorial office for offsite exhibitions and
projects and a micro-gallery. In addition to onsite exhibitions, Curator’s Office
participates in the international art fairs and organizes exhibitions off site for
museums, galleries, and arts organizations.
Curator’s Office was identified in December 2006’s Vanity Fair issue as an
important player in “The Art Universe.”
Pollan was trained as an art historian at Yale University. She was the recipient
of a National Endowment for the Arts Arts Administration Fellowship in 1994.
She is a member and has served on the DC Chapter of the ArtTable board.
In 1989, she conceived of the visual component of the Mapplethorpe Protest to project the deceased artists’ images against the walls of the Corcoran Gallery of Art upon the occasion of the exhibition’s abrupt cancellation by the
museum.
Christine Pfister studied at Christie’s Education at Christie’s in New York and since 1995 she has been the Co-Owner and Director of Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia, PA.
Christine Pfister has given lectures, participated on panels and juried many exhibitions in the United States and abroad. Lectures/panels/exhibitions include the University of Pennsylvania, the University of the Arts, the American Association of Museums, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Art, CFEVA, Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, PA; Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA; Kunstlerhaus S11, Solothurn, Switzerland, and more. She is active in various cultural organizations including CFEVA, ArtTable and the Maurice Rohrbach Fund.
Pentimenti Gallery exhibits contemporary art by emerging to mid-career artists. The gallery’s exhibitions were reviewed in major magazines and newspapers, such as Art in America, the Art Economist, Timeout New York, the Brooklyn Rail, USA Today, Philadelphia Style Magazine, Philadelphia Inquirer, and more. The gallery has exhibited nationally at various art fairs: Pulse NY, Volta NY, Texas Contemporary, Miami Project and CONTEXT Art Miami.
