The Greater Greenwood Arts Council is accepting entries for our third biennial Art on the Trailway program. Deadline has been extended to April 29th, 2016. Selected sculptures will be installed for a period of two years along Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, IN. Artists will receive an honorarium of $3,000. Artists must be 18 years or older and works shall be already completed at time of entry. Complete details and how to apply are attached and can also be found at greenwoodarts.org/publicart.php.

The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville seeks proposals from artists or artist teams for a permanent work of art to be located on the west wall of the underground section of The Emporium Center in downtown Knoxville. The selected artist or team will receive $10,000 to complete the project, including design, materials, equipment rental, site preparation, and installation.

The deadline for applications to be received is 5:00 PM on Monday, May 2, 2016.

About Close Up Baltimore

Close Up Baltimore is a project inspired by Humans of New York that aims to put Baltimore in the spotlight on its own terms. As showcased by NPR, The Baltimore Sun and ABC-2 News, Close Up Baltimore has captured hearts, minds, and imaginations from Patterson Park to Pakistan. This Wednesday, we are democratizing the platform and opening applications to find ten dynamic photographers that live in communities across the city. We feel it is our responsibility to elevate the voices that know the city best.

On March 19th, Wonder Commons will present Diorama-Rama Deux, a celebration of creative storytelling inside the box. This will be the second annual diorama competition. In keeping with tradition, the rules of the event are very simple: dioramas must be smaller than three feet at longest side and can contain electricity, moving parts or be static. Judges will be looking for clarity of story and creativity. “March Madness” is this year’s theme, which each competitor can interpret as he/she sees fit. In addition to six distinguished judges, the audience will get a chance to vote for their favorite.

A new art and food festival will be taking place in May in the town of Grantsville.  Grantsville is one of Maryland’s newest A&E Districts.  See the attached information for details.

The Artisan & Epicurean Faire will be the culmination of a week-long celebration and Grantsville’s participation in the National Road Festival.  The organizers have an extensive history of event production and successful experience in marketing.  I am confident this event will be a great success.
