The Contemporary is excited to announce an inaugural Artist Retreat, to take place at the Pearlstone Center from Thursday, August 4th to Sunday, August 7th. The Contemporary will convene 50 Baltimore artists and 25 national arts consultants including critics, curators, gallerists, and collectors, for three days of intensive professional development, community building, and networking. The retreat is free for all selected artists and includes transportation to and from the center, lodging, and all meals.
The City of Raleigh invites artists or artist teams experienced with the integration of art elements into a community space to submit qualifications to work as a public art consulting member of the project design team for the design and implementation of renovation to John Chavis Memorial Park. A place of pride and profound remembrance, the park celebrates the life and work of educator John Chavis and recognizes the park’s history to the African‐American community during and following segregation.
RFQ for Sculptural Trail Signage Design & Pilot Fabrication
The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation (CDC) is seeking an artist, designer, or team to create the design and develop pilot production of a sculpturally-influenced wayfinding trail signage for locations along the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail in Prince George’s County, Maryland. All Maryland sculptors eligible to apply. Initial submissions are due by Friday, May 20th, 2016, from which 3 finalists will be selected to submit more detailed design concepts. Each finalist will receive a $1,000.00 stipend. The ultimate finalist selected will receive a commission of $35,000.00.
360 XOCHI QUETZAL: Free Winter Artist Residency in Central Mexico

360 XOCHI QUETZAL is a FREE artist residency located on Lake Chapala, Mexico. International writers, playwrights, visual artists, fiber artists, filmmakers, photographers, new media artists, dancers and musicians are all welcome to apply for a 1-month residency. Frederick County artists are invited to submit a piece of artwork to be hung at this year’s Frederick Festival of the Arts. The local artists gallery wall will display artwork from around the county, offering visitors a chance to see what a talented arts community we have.

Timeline:
The deadline for submission is Wednesday, September 28th, 2016.
The artists accepted to the exhibition will be notified Friday, September 30th.
Accepted work must be framed arrive at the gallery no later than Friday, November 4th. The opening reception will be Friday, November 11th and unsold works will be on display through December 9th.
