Memories of home and place influence and inspire us as makers. From the architecture and materials of building to sensory impressions and psychological imprints, “home” is fertile ground for the development and creation of compelling work. The idea of home conveys familial or domestic notions, but may also refer to spaces or feelings of safety, community, or camaraderie.

Home/Maker is an exhibition of work celebrating the creative endeavors of theBaltimore Jewelry Center community. The Baltimore Jewelry Center has created a home for art jewelry in Baltimore and through this exhibition we will be highlighting the work of our community. We are seeking work made by our students and community members that addresses the theme of home.

Home/Maker will be on view December 2, 2016 – February 5, 2017, and an opening reception Friday, December 2.

Anyone who has taken classes or rented studio time at Baltimore Jewelry Center is welcome to apply.

Juror, Dara O’Malley, is an art jeweler based in Baltimore. She received a BFA in Illustration and a certificate degree in Jewelry from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She exhibits and sells her work at a variety of craft shows, including FACETS and the American Craft Council show, and is a bench jeweler for Rebecca Myers Collection.
