About Close Up Baltimore
Close Up Baltimore is a project inspired by Humans of New York that aims to put Baltimore in the spotlight on its own terms. As showcased by NPR, The Baltimore Sun and ABC-2 News, Close Up Baltimore has captured hearts, minds, and imaginations from Patterson Park to Pakistan. This Wednesday, we are democratizing the platform and opening applications to find ten dynamic photographers that live in communities across the city. We feel it is our responsibility to elevate the voices that know the city best.
Close Up Baltimore asks local photographers to join us in this mission and apply for ten photographer positions with the project. The photographers chosen to work with Close Up Baltimore will receive a $750 stipend as well as the recognition of a platform that has over 11,000 followers on Facebook and has reached over six million people since its launch in July. While they must be Baltimore City residents over the age of 18, these photographers will be diverse racially, culturally, in age and religion, and geographically across the city. Through these artists, Close Up Baltimore will portray the city through the eyes of a wide array of city residents.
