Arlington Arts Center is pleased to announce a call for submissions for a new regional biennial which will take place for the first time in the fall of 2019. Featuring work by artists from across the Mid-Atlantic, the exhibition will explore current material and conceptual trends with a focus on work that addresses the concerns of the present moment, whether political, cultural, personal, economic, artistic, or all of the above.
The exhibition and accompanying programming will include artists at various stages of their careers, with an eye towards exhibiting work by young and emerging artists alongside groundbreaking new work by artists with longstanding connections to the region and its art scenes.
The exhibition will be curated by Blair Murphy, AAC Curator of Exhibitions.

Who Can Submit?
Artists who produce contemporary art in any media, and who live or work in the Mid-Atlantic region (defined as Virginia; Washington, DC; Maryland; West Virginia; Pennsylvania; or Delaware) may submit. Any existing works must have been completed within the last 3 years in order to be considered. Artists at any stage of their career are welcome to apply.

The artist statement should relate specifically to the work samples being submitted. If the artist hopes to have new work or a new project considered for the exhibition, they should describe the new work in the artist statement document. If an artist is interested in organizing a program, event, workshop, performance, etc as part of their participation, this should also be mentioned in the artist statement.
3. Work Sample Index (Word document or PDF file)
List of the samples submitted, including the title, year, medium, and dimensions for each piece.
4. Work Samples
Submit up to 12 images, with up to 2 minutes of recorded material or up to 6 images, with up to 4 minutes of recorded material. See details regarding file format below.
Application Fee
There is a $35 application fee.
