Each year, Arlington Arts Center selects artists from across the Mid-Atlantic region for solo exhibitions in AAC’s seven separate gallery spaces or outside on the grounds. Six artists will be selected from this call for Fall SOLOS 2018. Proposals that specifically consider AAC’s space, layout, and surrounding environs are encouraged. The submission deadline is April 9, 2018.

The juror’s for Fall SOLOS 2018 are Cecilia Wichmann, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art, Baltimore Museum of Art and Maria del Carmen Montoya, Assistant Professor of Sculpture and Spatial Practice, George Washington University.

The exhibition will run from October 13 – December 15, 2018

June 3 – July 28, 2018

Located on NYU’s downtown campus, in the internationally recognized Steinhardt Department of Art and Art Professions, Summer Studio Residency is a non-residential, 8-week program providing prime space and personalized mentorship to 24 emerging artists interested in focusing on creative practice.

NYU’s SSR program encourages creative risk-taking, experimentation, and expansive dialogue across the following disciplines: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and video.

Through our innovative mentorship model, residents will work closely with practicing professional artists.

Terrault Gallery is excited to announce its its second Juried Exhibition, on view from May 5, 2018 – May 26, 2018 with an Opening Reception on Saturday, May 5th, 7-10pm.

Exhibition Run: January 12 – February 17, 2019

Strathmore welcomes artists working in any medium to explore nocturnal themes. Whether it is the night sky, darkness, or the transformative nature of nightfall, Night delves into the beauty, mystery, and sometimes phobic qualities of the hours from dusk to dawn.

There is an application of $32 for each submission of up to 8 works. Submissions will be considered through a blind jurying process and juried on aesthetic value, mastery of craft, and relevance to the exhibition theme. Each artwork will be considered individually. There is no limit to how many works from one artist’s entry may be accepted. 

Cash prizes will be awarded to Best in Show, First Runner Up, and Second Runner Up at the opening reception. Honorable Mentions will also be recognized.

The Leonardtown Arts & Entertainment District in conjunction with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council are accepting proposals for a Mural Project in Leonardtown, Maryland. We are looking for professional muralists/painters interested in creating a mural to be painted on the north concrete wall of the Hair Company Building in Leonardtown, MD, that reflects the history and revitalization of the Leonardtown waterfront.

The Schuler School of Fine Arts is hosting its 9th Annual Juried Animal Exhibition: From Fur To Feathers in March 2018. The theme for the exhibition is animals — an animal must take visual precedence in the composition. The quality of the work will take precedence over the subject.

Any original, representational, two dimensional work in the mediums of oil paint, pastel acrylic, watercolor, ink, pencil or scratchboard and wall-mounted sculpture relief or in the round under 40 lbs will be considered. 

All works must be for sale.

The Howard County Arts Council is excited about the new collaboration with Howard Hughes Corporation to establish the Merriweather District Artist in Residence Program (MD AIR) – in Howard County.  Up to 3 artists will receive a $10,000 stipend, studio space, and living space to create new work in our community from June 1 – July 31, 2018.  MD AIR is open to local, national and international artists working in all media including, but not limited to, performance, video, 2-D and 3-D visual arts, dance, music, and the spoken word; priority consideration will be given to artists exploring light, music, technology and/or interactivity in their work.
