Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), in collaboration with residents and a broad range of community-based partners, is seeking to commission a professional artist, artisan, architect, landscape architect, or teams thereof to create artwork for permanent display in the Upham’s Corner neighborhood of Dorchester as part of the exciting increase in transit access along the Fairmount Corridor.

This project seeks to contribute to the well-being of Fairmount communities by investing in the elevation and amplification of local cultural assets as one of many resources necessary for sustained community vitality. The selected artist(s) will facilitate a community centered and led visioning, design, site selection, fabrication and installation process that uplifts the local identity and celebrates the richness of the neighborhood and its residents.

The Arts Council of Fairfax County, VA is accepting qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in a public art engagement opportunity in the County’s Tysons area.  The selected artist/team will design, fabricate, and install a temporary, portable work of art that will engage residents, visitors, and area employees in the discussion of public art and the role of the arts in Tysons.  While designing the artwork, the artist/team must take into consideration the transitional nature of the Tysons area including current, future, and planned conditions.  This project is funded in part by an Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for creative placemaking.  The artist fee is $40,000.

Corpus Christi Creative Connections announces a Call for Entry for the 2014 Festival of the Arts. One two-dimensional artwork will be selected and showcased at the Festival, and the artist will receive a cash award as well as public recognition. AGATHA: Religious know-it all, thinks everyone is going to Hell. But fearless to tackle any problem.

DONALD: Racist-militant, expelled by Malcolm X.  But  loyal to un-worthy friends.

DENISE: Young girl stuggles with same-sex issues, during an era when best kept a secret. But finds a way to come-out!

Green in the City is a national design competition to create an urban community space in the 10th and Pacific block of downtown Omaha, Neb. . Green in the City presents an opportunity for a multidisciplinary designer or design team to develop and implement an innovative design for urban open space in Omaha that can inspire other urban communities to follow suit. The winning team will be expected to work with the BLUEBARN Theatre design team and other stakeholders to develop and implement the winning scheme.

A $200,000 design award will be granted to the winner of the competition—the design project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015.  This initial RFQ phase will be followed by a selection of finalists who will compete in a proposal/interview phase.  The award announcement is anticipated in February 2014.

The Inglewood Arts Commission has allocated $50,000 for a Public Arts Education Program, guided by the Cultural Arts Master Plan’s Arts and Education Goals, to increase community arts appreciation and provide instruction for citizens and visitors. The City of Inglewood is seeking proposals from a team of arts professionals to research, develop and distribute educational materials about the Inglewood public art collection and other significant City architecture and cultural sites, for a general audience.

Teams consisting of a general arts writer, art educator, and/or cultural organization staff will:

• Research and develop content for community based art appreciation and instruction based on public art in Inglewood.

• Format and develop up to three platforms for experiencing public art for general audiences, all ages and multiple cultures.

• Distribute resulting digital materials online and to City libraries, schools and community centers.
